Nosotros all love hearing well-nigh the (skillful) things God has said He'll practise for united states—but what about the things God won't do?

I judge in that location'south a good reason people focus on the positives: the positives are pretty astonishing.

  • God comforts His people (Is 51:eleven).
  • God protects His people (Ps 121:7).
  • God helps His people (Ps 115:11).

Simply hey—that's only part of the picture. What about the things God is never, always going to do for/to yous?

I was curious virtually what sort of things we could count on God never doing, so I hit the books. I establish not only a list of things God will never do, simply too six over-arching categories of things we know God but won't do to/for those who believe in Him.

six things the Bible says God volition never practise

things-god-will-never-do1. God is never going to requite y'all up

Jesus says,

"All that the Male parent gives Me will come to Me, and the 1 who comes to Me I volition certainly non cast out. For I have come up down from sky, not to practice My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, only raise information technology up on the concluding solar day." (Jn 6:37–39)

Jesus, the God-human, is the writer of "eternal salvation" (He five:9). He will never, ever give yous up.

things-god-will-never-do2. God volition never let you down

The proper name of the Lord is a potent tower (Pr 18:ten). The Lord is mighty—the Almighty (Re 19:6). He has fabricated many promises, and He who promised is faithful (He x:23).

God didn't allow downwardly the Israelites in Arab republic of egypt. He won't let yous down, either.

things-god-will-never-do3. God is never going to run around and desert you

Even though Israel turned her back on God and pursued idols, God remained faithful. The book of Hosea gives us a vivid example of God'southward unfailing love to those who are unfaithful to Him:

Then the LORD said to me, "Go once more, love a woman who is loved by her husband, yet an adulteress, fifty-fifty as the LORD loves the sons of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love raisin cakes." (Ho 3:1)

I actually don't like cake, but you lot get the indicate: God is true-blue to His people. Paul reiterates this in his start letter to Timothy: "If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself" (two Ti 2:13).

God won't desert you.

things-god-will-never-doiv. God is never going to make you cry

OK, this 1's a little iffy. We all cry a lot anyway (I mean, have you seenThe Fe Giant ?),and there are times in the Bible when God actually recommends or causes weeping:

  • "In that day the Lord God of hosts called you lot to weeping, to wailing [. . .]" (Is 22:12), when the Lord judged Judah.
  • Jesus says that He will "send along His angels, and they volition gather out of His kingdom all stumbling blocks, and those who commit lawlessness, and volition throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there volition exist weeping and gnashing of teeth" (Mt 13:41–42)
  • And let'due south not forget that beatitude: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Mt 5:iv).

But it won't e'er exist this way for the redeemed. In the book of Revelation, John gets a glimpse of the coming new creation:

  • "He will wipe away every tear from their optics; and in that location will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying, or pain; the get-go things have passed away" (Re 21:4).

This echoes the promises of the prophet Isaiah that all sorrow and sighing will flee away (Is 35:ten, 51:11).

So although God'due south present discipline isn't pleasant (He 12:xi), there will come a fourth dimension when, cheers to God, we will never cry.

things-god-will-never-dofive. God is never going to say goodbye

He didn't abandon Joshua (Dt 31:vi; Jos 1:5), and the aforementioned hope applies to y'all: "I will never desert you, nor will I ever forsake you" (Heb 13:5).

things-god-will-never-dohalf-dozen. God is never going to tell a lie and hurt you

God won't lie; it's impossible. Accept information technology to the bank:

  • "God is non a human, that He should lie" ( Nu 23:xix).
  • "The Glory of Israel will not prevarication or change His mind" (1 Sa 15:29).
  • "[. . .] God, who cannot prevarication, promised long ages ago" (Ti 1:2).
  • "Information technology is incommunicable for God to lie" (He vi:18).

If God says it, information technology's truthful. Count on it: God is never going to tell a lie.

Take a nice April, everyone.
